In Tallahassee tradition, the streets of downtown in Florida’s Capital City closed for a special festival honoring the 2008 Southeast Sports Festival athletes.
1984 U.S. Olympic team members Rita Buck-Crockett, who played for the 1984 silver-medal winning volleyball team and Walter McCoy, a gold medal winning sprinter in the 4 X 400 relay at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles gave motivational messages to the crowd.
The Rickards High School Drumline lead the parade of Athletes down Adams Street. Plus the Florida State University Football, Volleyball and Soccer teams held autograph sessions throughout the evening.
The Opening Ceremonies Downtown Getdown featured entertainment provided by the local band "Anything but Stressed." The Tallahassee band got the crowd rockin with a variety of music that spanned from rock ‘n’ roll to jazz to folk, country and blues.
